For 1:64 scale waterslide decals, the key is patience and a glossy surface.

1. Prepare the surface – Make sure the model is clean and has a smooth, glossy finish. Decals adhere much better to gloss than matte paint. 
2. Cut the decal – Trim as close to the artwork as possible using a sharp hobby knife or fine scissors. 
3. Soak – Place the decal in room-temperature water for about 15–30 seconds, then let it rest for a few more seconds until it slides freely on the backing paper. 
4. Apply – Wet the model slightly, then slide the decal off the backing paper onto the model using a soft brush or tweezers. Position it carefully. 
5. Remove excess water – Gently roll a damp cotton swab or soft tissue from the center outward to remove trapped water and air bubbles. Don’t wipe, as this can tear the decal. 
6. Optional (recommended) – Apply Micro Set before placement and Micro Sol after positioning to help the decal conform to curves and body lines. 
7. Let it dry – Allow the decal to dry for 12–24 hours, then seal it with a clear gloss or matte coat to protect the finish. 

Pro tip for tiny 1:64 decals: Work one decal at a time under good lighting, and use a toothpick to make fine positioning adjustments without stretching the decal.
